Primary Metals

Complete Maintenance and Fatigue Management System for the Primary Metal Industry

In today's industrial environment, many of the cranes being utilized have been in service for thirty years or more. It would not be economically feasible to replace an entire crane population at the point that they reach the end of their expected lives.

The Hoist and Crane Service Group can work with your facility to not only manage the maintenance of these older cranes, but also to design a program to deal with fatigue in existing equipment. By determining existing damage as a relationship to expected fatigue, a program can be designed to repair, as well as upgrade inspection and maintenance schedules. This will allow for extended crane service beyond current existing life expectancies

Hoist and Crane Service Group's SYM-PAC System offers:

  • General Maintenance Including:
    • Wheel Set Replacement
    • Load Cable Changes
    • Block Replacement
    • Girder and End Truck Repair or Replacement
    • Gear Box Repair or Replacement
    • Runway Corrections Including:
      • Rail Replacement
      • Flashbutt Splice Repair
      • Thermite Emergency Rail Repair
      • Complete System Alignment
      • RailPac Outage Repair
    • Electrical Upgrade, Repair and Modernization Including:
      • AC Variable Speed Drives
      • DC Variable Speed Drives
      • Radio Control
      • Complete Electrical Hardware Replacement

Hoist and Crane can supply complete packages including our 3 to 5 year upgrade program, MOD-35. This combined with our PVM-5 preventative maintenance schedule offer the most complete Primary Metal crane maintenance operating system available today.

Regardless of the crane, no mechanical part or component need be considered obsolete. Hoist and Crane's FlexPart replacement part program can recreate castings as well as machine parts.

Pulp & Paper

Pulp and Paper: One of the Most Challenging Crane Maintenance Environments in the World

140 F heat, constant steam encasement and near capacity loads! These are just a few of the evils mill cranes face every day. You can't go down, much less stay down in these mills. That is why mills across the country call the Hoist and Crane Service Group. 24 hours a day 365 days a year, crane technicians are available, whatever the problem!

"House Cranes" and their runways have to be dealt with on the run. No problem. The Hoist and Crane Service Group has completed more "House Crane" work over running paper machines than anybody. The result is no lost production!

"Reel Cranes" come with their own unique problems. All repairs and upgrades must be packaged to allow for very tight down time windows. When done professionally, faster outages with a faster return to production!

FATIGUE MANAGEMENT

Crane Structures, Runway Assemblies, Shafting etc. have expected lives. The proper management of fatigue as a part of your maintenance program will head off catastrophic failure.

SITE MAINTENANCE

Hoist and Crane Service Group is in the crane business as mills are in the paper making business. Ever shrinking staffs require assigning assets to your core needs. Hoist and Crane, thru their SYM-PAC operating system, can handle all material handling equipment in the mill, freeing in-house personnel to concentrate on the paper making equipment.

DATA MANAGEMENT

Utilizing Hoist and Crane Service Group's MOD 35 and PVM maintenance systems, the data generated by your inspection, fatigue and maintenance programs is managed allowing the mill to focus on the most critical issues and the most critical cranes. This is essential in today's world of shrinking in-house maintenance staffs and budgets.
